Sunday's Chilly Killington Slopestyle
21 Jan by Abby Parker
Hi everyone,
As you’ve probably heard, Sunday is shaping up to be a cold one. Never fear! We are hearty New Englanders. We want to reassure you that we’re planning ahead so athletes have places to stay warm throughout the day. Our goal is that the only time kids feel truly chilly is on the chairlift and during their run.
Here’s what we’re doing to manage the cold:
-Portable propane heaters inside the tent at the top of the course
-An abundance of hand and toe warmers available for athletes
-A tight, efficient schedule so athletes know exactly when they need to be on course and aren’t spending unnecessary time standing around in the cold
We already have a tent for the top of the course, and I’ll be picking up canopy walls to help block wind and retain heat. I’ll also be purchasing anything else we need to make sure we’re covered.
I also heard during last Sunday’s Bears/Rams game that some teams put cayenne pepper in their socks to stay warm. I can’t personally vouch for that one, so take it for what it’s worth.
If anyone happens to already have any of the items above and would be willing to lend them for the day, please feel free to let me know. This is completely optional, but very appreciated.
Thank you, as always, for your support and flexibility. These events don’t happen without this community, and I truly appreciate all of you.
See you Sunday,
Abby
